St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish

"While they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, gave a prayer of thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples. `Take it and eat it', he said: `this is my body.' Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to them. `Drink it, all of you', he said, `this is my blood, which is God's covenant, my blood poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins'."
(Matthew 26: 27-28)

Current Happenings
The Liturgy of the Word consists of readings from the Old and New Testament as well as a responsorial psalm. Lectors are called upon to act as Godís messenger as they proclaim the word of God at each Mass. They are also responsible for offering the Prayers of the Faithful. The readings can be found in your home Missal and must be practiced and contemplated before Mass. At Mass, the first reader is responsible for processing with the lectionary. The second reader is responsible for offering the Prayers of the Faithful.
A schedule is posted each month to facilitate planning. A reminder of who serves the following week appears in the weekly bulletin. Preference is given as to whether you like to perform this ministry on Saturday or Sunday Mass. Workshops are held periodically for new Mass preparation ministers and those considering these ministries.
Anyone interested in volunteering for any of these ministries, please contact the office.
